Magsaysay Park ‘Village’ to stay

As one of the highlights of the 2017 Kadayawan Festival Celebration, the Kadayawan village, located inside Magsaysay Park garnered much attention and positive feedbacks, this is why these houses are here to stay.

Councilor Ryan Alejandre announced in his privilege speech on Tuesday, that all 11 cultural houses showcasing the traditions of our prominent tribes in Davao City will permanently be situated at the said park, to boost the city’s tourism and increase the level of awareness of the general public on the culture.

Besided the 100,000 budget for the creation of each tribal house, Alejandre said that the City Tourism Office will allocate more budget to hire additional manpower for the maintenance and security of the 11 cultural houses.

He said that with the village in place, people will have something to look up to reminiscent of the early days of Davao City.

Similar to some foreign countries including Korea and Japan, the creation of Davao City’s Cultural houses will serve as an introduction to this city’s historical past, and to remind and to educate the present and future generations of how rich Davao’s culture is.
