The provincial government has intensified its infrastructure development program through the road network development, an intervention aimed to boost the local economy through an increased agricultural production and inducing creativity and strategies among farmers, as accessibility to the market is no longer a problem.
On July 17, 2018, three more barangays from the City of Mati benefitted on the road concreting project funded by the Conditional Matching Grant to Provinces intended for repair, rehabilitation, and improvement by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).
Gov. Nelson Dayanghirang led the groundbreaking ceremony of a 2.4-kilometer road concreting project in Brgy. Don Salvador Lopez.
The concreting covers National Highway junction going to Sitio Tambon, Bona-an, Sta. Cruz and New Camotes, and to extend to Barangay Tagbinonga.
Provincial Engr. Roel Dumadag explained that the project has an initial allocation of 25 million pesos from the DILG.
“We will create a circumferential road to the mountainous areas so agricultural products can already pass through the national highways once completed,” he said.
Punong Barangay Ben Rio Miones expressed his profound gratitude to the provincial government for the project.
“This has been our dream for so long. Finally, this is a step forward towards the realization of our dream, and we know the impact this would create on the barangay’s economic activity. Also, we are expecting more from the provincial government,” he said, to the cheers of the crowd at the groundbreaking program.
Gov. Nelson Dayanghirang divulged that the project is a continuing undertaking.
“Through this groundbreaking, you will know that the government is working for you. This is important so that you will feel you are a part of the project and would take part in monitoring its implementation, and make sure that it will be completed as stipulated in the program of work,” he explained.
Mayor Carlo Rabat also thanked the provincial government and appealed to the residents to make good use of the project.
After the groundbreaking in the morning, a project turn-over followed in the afternoon, complementing the provincial government’s push for an infrastructure facelift for the day.
Barangay Bobon and Dahican officials, led by Punong Barangay Valencio Macaturac of Bobon and Kagawad Lomer Baulos of Dahican, received the Certificate of Completion from the province for the 6-kilometer concreted Bobon-Dahican National Highway junction worth 105 million pesos, still from the DILG.
“This will be my legacy made possible through the provincial government, as we all are starting to experience the project’s benefits,” stated Punong Barangay Macaturac.
Gov. Nelson Dayanghirang reiterated that the turn-over is an avenue to know how the constituents feel about the program.
“We all know that Dahican is already enjoying the influx of visitors, and so we see Bobon as the extension of our tourism potentials, and we will do all the interventions for this tourism leap strategy,” he furthered.
Gracing the two activities were school principals from the two barangays, the workforce from the Provincial Engineering Office, barangay functionaries, Board Member Lito Macatabog, former Board Member Delfin Miones, and Councilor Kobe Capina representing Mayor Carlo Rabat in the turn-over activity, and Mr. Orle Cabaobao, City of Mati Local Government Operations Officer.
