A suspected drug peddler was arrested in a buy-bust operation conducted by agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and police officers in the municipality of Hagonoy, Davao del Sur last Sunday.
The operation resulted to the arrest of one Joynel Solmeron alias “Joy- Joy,” who was reportedly caught in possession of suspected dried marijuana leaves valued at around P720,000.
A total of six kilograms of dried marijuana fruiting tops were confiscated during the operation in Purok 6, Sugbong, Barangay San Isidro, Hagonoy, Davao del Sur at around 8:40 in the evening.
This was joint a operation of elements of the Davao del Sur Provincial Office, Davao Occidental Provincial Police Office, Hagonoy Municipal Police Station and a team of agents from Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) 11. Some operatives of the Daao Occidental Provincial Police Office reportedly joined the operation.
Also recovered from the possession of the suspect was one .38 caliber revolver loaded with six live ammunition and four empty shells.
Solmeron will be facing cases for violation of Section 5, 11 and 12 of Article II of Republic Act (RA) 9165 also known as Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and Section 28 Article 5 of RA 10591 better known as Comprehensive Firearm and Ammunition Regulation Act.
