Deed of usufruct Brgy. Sasa okayed

The Davao City 18th Council approved on third and final reading on Tuesday an ordinance authorizing the City Mayor to sign a deed of usufruct with Barangay Council of Sasa to use the land of Paradise Island Drive for the city’s social services programs.

The approved ordinance is under the Committee on Rules, Privileges, Laws and Ordinances chaired by Councilor Melchor Quitain Jr.

The ordinance pertains to the proposed deed of usufruct by and between Barangay Sasa and city government of Davao involving a 200 square meters portion of the 3,000 square meters, more or less lot portion of land located at Paradise Island Drive, Km. 9 Sasa, Davao City, to be used solely and exclusively for the latter’s social services program.

Based on the MOA, the 200 square meters of land located at Sasa will be used as District Office of the Usufructuary.

The Usufructuary is authorized to construct new buildings, make repairs, including renovations, and provided that the same shall conform to the standards prescribe by law.

The contract of usufruct shall be effective for a period of 25 years from time of the signing the MOA and will atomatically terminated and all the improvements thereon shall be forfeited in favor of Barangay Sasa as owner.

It mandates to maintain the land in accordance with the existing rules and regulations and preserve the same in habitable condition during the existence of usufruct.
