The Indonesian Consulates in Davao City underscored on Wednesday the steady growth of the bilateral trade relations, specifically on importing and exporting goods between Philippines in the last three years from 2015 to 2017.
Edah Rachmi Yuliarti, Indonesian Consulates Socio-Cultural Affairs, said that trade relations of Indonesia-Philippines have increased from 4 billion USD in 2015 to over 7billion USD in 2017.
During the Weekly Habi at Kape press forum, Yuliarti showed that imports from Indonesia grew from 4, 61 billion USD in 2016 to 6, 35 billion USD in 2017 and exports to Indonesia increase by 627.59 million USD in 2016 to 724.21 million USD.
“Bilateral relations between our two countries have grown from strength to strength , not only because we are close neighbors , but we are brothers and sisters in one region,” she said.
According to Yuliarti, total export of Indonesia manufactured products during January- December 2017 hit 125 billion USD.
“This figures contributes the highest up to 76 percent from the total value of Indonesian’s exports which reached 168.83 billion USD,” she added.
Yuliarti said that Indonesia and the Philippines have undertaken major efforts to strengthen their trade relations with the establishment of RoRo sea route connectivity between Davao/General Santos and Bitung last April 2017.
“Aside from trade relations, we also aim to boost direct trading of goods between Mindanao investors and Indonesian brands,” she added.
This year, The Consulate of Republic of Indonesia in Davao City will host 2nd Indonesia Manufactured Products Expo (IMPE) on November 23-25, 2018 at Abreeza Mall, Activity Center, featuring Indonesia’s export quality manufactured products that are feasible to the Philippine market specially to Mindanao.
