NPAs in burning of dump trucks chased

The Magsaysay Municipal Police Station is in hot pursuit operations against a group of people tagged behind the burning of three ten -dump trucks on Saturday.

These dump trucks were owned by one Jordan Tiu of Jejors Construction Corporation and were torched by suspected members of the rebel New People’s Army.

Investigation revealed that the air-conditioned dump trucks were flagged down at Leynes Compound, Barangay Kasuga, Magsaysay Davao del Sur by about 10 fully armed men.

These men pointed their guns at the three drivers and two helpers to get out of the truck with their valuable and important items.

The dump trucks were on their way to Matanao Davao del Sur from the company’s quarry site in Barangay Dalawinon Magsaysay Davao del Sur.

The victims are identified as Julius A. Tanquis, 29, male; William I Regidor alias Panoy, 44, male,  both residents of Barangay Poblacion, Matanao, Davao del Sur; Marlon D. Monteayor, 37, resident of San Rafael, Talakag Bukidnon; Saturnino B Devera Jr., 38, resident of Bauk-Bauk Balingoan, Misamis Oriental and Jope R. Tapuac alias Sasas, 26, resident of Poblacion Balingoan, Misamis Oriental.

When the victims were out of the trucks, the perpetrators burned the trucks immediately by using three gallons of gasoline and an improvised torch causing severe damage on the trucks.

The cost of damage is yet to be determined.

After fifteen minutes the suspects fled the area on foot towards undetermined direction leaving the victims behind.
