WCPD pushing for  responsible parenting

Positive parenting is pushed by the Davao City Police Office-Women and Children Protection Desk (DCPO-WCPD) in line with the Children’s Month celebration in the month of November.

“With this Children’s Month celebration we are advocating for responsible parenthood and positive parenting,” said Sr. Insp. Lilibeth Remolar, chief of DCPO- Women and Children Protection Desk during the weekly AFP-PNP Southern Mindanao Press Corps media forum at The Royal Mandaya Hotel Wednesday.

Remolar said majority of abusers are elders and adults in the family that is why there is a need to advocate proper disciplining and keeping the children away from violence.

The theme for this November’s Children’s Month is “Isulong tamang pag aaruga sa lahat ng bata,” she said.

“As much as possible no to violence and corporal punishment,” she said.

In line with the celebration, the  DCPO has arranged a set of activities; continuous Oplan Kalinaw, which is a weekly activity, wherein the police officers are conducting home visitation, lectures and distributions of information materials on the prevention of sexual abuse including trafficking in person and prevention of CICL.

“We participated in the kick-off ceremony last Monday with the city government during the flag ceremony,” she said.

In the ceremony, the Panatang Makabata was recited which is also a mandate for the entire month of November. There will be a continuing schools visits and kinder cops activities and sagop kabataan, which is a rescue of children every day done by all police stations.
