Back to back Pasko fiesta events bared

The city government of Davao is now gearing up for the back-to-back Yugyugan and Tugtugan sa Pasko as features of this year’s Pasko Fiesta celebration on December 25 and 26, 2018.

Tugtugan sa Pasko is a rock band competition open to all Davao City- based professional and amateur bands, while Yugyugan is an electronic dance music (EDM) street party.

Constancio Arnaiz, event organizer, said that both activities will be held at Rizal Park from at 6 p.m. to 9 p.m..

“Dabawenyos who attended the past street parties organized by the city were people who did not have the luxury to go to party bars to dance and enjoy,” said Arnaiz.

He added that Yugyugan will showcase trendy style of music and light system.

“This is the chance for Dabawenyos, tourists and visitors to experience that life is here in Davao,” Arnaiz added.

However, Arnaiz said that the street party prohibits liquor selling.

On the other hand, there are 15 finalists who will compete for this year’s Tugtugan which will be held the following day.

He said that each band is required to perform during the finals one cover or original Christmas song in rock version, rendition or arrangement, and one rock song of their choice.

Participants will vie for these prizes: P45, 000 cash for the champion, P35, 000 for the second placer, P25, 000 for third place, and P5, 000 each 12 consolation winners.
