The 18th City Council of Davao approved on third and final reading under suspended rules on Wednesday the city’s annual budget for 2019 worth P8.8 billion.
The annual budget embodies the proposed appropriation in the total amount of P8, 853,661,002.
Councilor Danilo C. Dayanghirang, chairperson of the committee on finance, ways and means, and appropriations, that the comparative sources of our 2019 annual budget is P4.9 billion from Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA) and P3.9 billion from local sources.
He said that the P3, 970,848,700 of the local sources include local taxes, fees, permits, and licenses income, service income, business income, receipts from markets, slaughterhouse, Sta. Ana Port, Davao City Recreational Center, Cemeteries, and Pasalubong Center.
The annual budget under general funds accounts showed that the appropriations include P7.4 billion for the general fund proper, P1.3 billion for the development fund, P101 million for the operation of markets, P16 million for slaughterhouse operations, P2 million for the operation of Sta. Ana Port, P4 million for the operation of the Davao City Recreational Center, P5 million for the operation of cemeteries and P1 million for the operation of Pasalubong Center.
According to Dayanghirang, there is a balance of P43, 887,146.00 which remain unappropriated.
Earlier, city council of Davao approved on third and final reading the 2018 Supplemental Budget 2 (SB2) in the amount of P618, 316, 444. 36.
The SB 2 for 2018 was sourced out mainly from reversions of appropriations in the total amount of P565, 682,819.64, followed by the 2017 unappropriated surplus in the amount of P33, 702,418.23 and the liquidated damages from January 1 to September 30 this year with the amount of P5, 876,363.70
Meanwhile, Dayanghirang said that that the city’s 2018 Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA) remains the top source of the city’s budget pegged at P4.5 billion compared to the local sources of only P2.8 billion.
