The Big Bad Wolf Book Sale, the world’s biggest book sale, is committed to donate around 1,000 books to Gawad Kalinga Foundation and to the communities in Davao and Mindanao.
The first-ever Davao leg book sale began last Thursday, November 22 and will run until Sunday, December 2 . It is open 24 hours at The Tent at Azuela Cove, Davao City.
Ervin Liew, brand manager of BBW book sale, said on Thursday during the I-Speak media forum at the City Hall that part of the proceeds of the sale will befit Gawad Kalinga’s outreach programs.
“The Big Bad Wolf Books is not just about selling books but to spread reading as a habit to people around the world, especially the less fortunate,” said Liew.
To further celebrate the season of giving, he said that shoppers can purchase and donate books for the Gawad Kalinga communities at the Red Readerhood area.
Liew said that as of today, the BBW already collected around 600 donated books from the shoppers.
“What we want to do is to make reading affordable to everybody and to promote the reading as a habit,” he said.
“We are encouraging customers to be part of the program by donating at the event,” said Liew.
In a press conference at Union Market, Azuela Cove on November 5, the BBW turned over P5 million to Luis Oquiñena, GK executive director, in support of its various outreach programs.
