Milan bares priorities of Davao Chamber in 2019

Re-elected Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (DCCCII) president Arturo Milan vows to continue and strengthen business community advocacy, community service in the city and organization development under his new term.

Milan and 13 other officers took their oath taking Tuesday afternoon during the 51st Annual installation of Officers and Board of Trustees at the Marco Polo Hotel.

The chamber, who took the oath in the presence of Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio are Milan, John Carlo Tria (executive vice president), Belinda Torres (vice-president for industry), Bernard Benedicto (vice president for trade and commerce), Antonio dela Cruz (vice president for professional and service ventures), Jennifer Dumlao (corporate secretary), Marilou Ampuan (corporate treasurer), Bonifacio Tan, Jennifer Sazon, Al Balagot, Ma. Lourdes Monteverde, Simeon Marfori III, Engr. Rodger Velasco (trustee).

The DCCCII president, in his speech, said that for the business community advocacy, he will continue pushing for improvements in the city’s basic infrastructure in order to attract more investments and tourism.

“This includes fast tracking the modernization of our airport terminals and of Sasa pier,” Milan said.

The bidding for the port was scheduled last Monday, January 28. The winning bidder is expected to be announced this February.

He also said that he will monitor the construction of the Davao Bypass and coastal roads, which are currently under works.

The Davao City Bypass Road Construction project, under the implementation of the Department of Public Works and Highways XI (DPWH-XI), is worth P25.849 billion, with a financing scheme under the Official Development Assistance (ODA) Loans of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

The Davao City – Panabo City bypass road  involves the construction of a 45.2 kilometer four-lane highway (two lanes each direction), including a 2.3 – kilometer mountain tunnel, that will bypass the city center and divert traffic from the diversion road.
While the Davao City Coastal Bypass Road Project is constructing also the to be implemented by the DPWH Bago Aplaya – Matina Aplaya portion.

This portion, costing P4.96 billion, will have a two-lane road including one bridge and slope protection works and road right-of-way (RROW).

Milan also said that the Davao Chamber is continuously initiating talks in hoping to establish direct air connectivity, including having the Davao-Japan flight, and the revival of the Kuala Lumpur-Davao and Manado-Davao.

“We will also intensify the services we offer to Davao Chamber members,” he added, “We will deliver for more assistance in terms of growing your business most especially the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
