The Davao City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) wants to have its own traffic monitoring powers.
CTTMO chief Dionisio Abude said on Thursday said that a shared traffic monitoring will effectively address the traffic situation in the city.
Currently, the Public Safety and Security Command Center (PSSCC) is the only office with a monitoring room of all the footages coming from the deployed closed circuit television (CCTV) deployed in the intersections of the city.
PSSCC also has the control of all 64 traffic light signals, which is currently undergoing repairs.
“The transfer of monitoring is included in the term of reference in our traffic synchronization repair,” Abude said in an interview during the iSpeak media forum at the City Hall of Davao.
The transition period had yet to be determined, according to the traffic chief but he hopes this t happen within the year.
The city’s traffic czar said that they will be training 25 CTTMO personnel who will be deployed in the monitoring team.
“It will be easy for us to address the status of the traffic situation in the city, especially in mobilization of enforcers and equipment needed,” he said.
Abude said that he had expressed his desire for the CTTMO to have its monitoring team since he assumed in 2013.
“With this, we would also be able to address complaints coming from motorist and pedestrians,” he said.
