A 43-year-old man was arrested for violation of total gun ban implemented here after attempting to bring his gun in the city on Monday morning.
The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) identified suspect as Abdul Yasser E. Macusang, resident of Purok Mangga Maco, Davao de Oro .
Police report bared that Macusang was arrested at the fixed checkpoint in Barangay Licanan, Lasang conducted by the personnel of Bunawan Police Station and Task Force Davao around 9:00 a.m. of January 20.
According to the report, uniformed personnel in the checkpoint saw the caliber 40 pistol in the armrest of the box storage of his vehicle which prompted authorities to stop him and inspect his pick-up.
The suspect failed to present an authority to travel firearms here since the city government is implementing the suspension of Permit to Carry Firearms Outside Residence (PTCFOR).
It also added the Macusang did not also present any documents such as License to Own and Possess Firearms and LTOPF during the inspection.
The suspect was immediately brought to Bunawan Police Station. His firearm and his vehicle was placed under police custody for proper filing of charges.
The police is now preparing charges against Macusang for violation of the Republic Act 10591 or the “Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act”.
The city implemented a one-year total gun ban after PNP chief Lt. Gen. Archie Gamboa approved the request of Mayor Sara Z. Duterte for the suspension of PTCFOR after the implementation of Martial Law in Mindanao expired last December 31, 2019.
