President Rodrigo R. Duterte reiterated his call to the people to stop convincing his daughter Mayor Sara Z. Duterte to run as president in 2022.
The President made his appeal last Friday during the distribution of agricultural projects in Pigcawayan, Cotabato Province.
“Huwag niyo yang demonyohin yang anak ko kasi maawa ako (Do not convince my daughter because I will really feel sorry for it), ” she said.
Duterte said he knows how hard to be the president from the limited freedom that he has, to the criticism he got.
The President said, after his term, he will go back to his hometown and will not seek any national position.
Last December, Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said that the tandem of the mayor and president in 2022 could be possible following an online pre-election survey result conducted by Publicus Asia Inc.
Panelo said the older Duterte was aware of the survey results, noting that the Chief Executive “smiled” when he was asked to give a reaction.
