Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Police General Benjamin Acorda Jr. reminded officials and personnel of the Police Regional Office 11 (PRO 11) to conduct police operations aggressively but honestly to gain the trust of the people.

Acorda appealed to PRO 11 to do their job professionally and to the best of their ability to win the hearts and minds of the community that they serve. By doing this, he said, police can achieve peace and order in a certain locality.

“We want to enhance or do aggressive police operations and at the same time honestly. Before I assumed there were so many issues that were besetting us. With this intent, in all our operations do our best, aggressively but at the same time honestly. Yung hindi tayo pag iisipan ng ating kababayan,” he said during his command visit at the PRO 11 in Camp Quintin Merecido, Catitipan, Buhangin, Davao City on Friday.

He said presenting a case in court following honest operations has a high probability of conviction.

“We do this by training and coordination with the other agencies specially the Department of Justice (DOJ) and we are happy that DOJ ay tumutulong. Now there is a plan of cascading training and cooperation at gusto natin at the earliest possible stage ang prosecutor ay onboard kaagad sa mga kaso,” he said.

He also assured the police that their welfare and interest is one of his primordial considerations specially in the matter of the pension system of the military and other uniformed personnel (MUP).

It can be recalled that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. expressed his support on the proposal to reform the pension system for the MUP, which according to the economic managers, is unsustainable.

Benjamin Diokno, the secretary of finance, reported that the pension paid to MUP retirees is around nine times greater than that paid to pensioners from the private sector.

The PNP chief is seeking a “win-win” solution on the issue of overhauling the said pension system and is looking forward to a dialogue with the people involve in the issue.

“I know and I understand that the MUP is a little bit besetting or maraming questions to our uncertainties para sa atin especially those who are in the regional offices but what I am assuring you is that at the national headquarters and all the technical working group meetings and other fora we are doing our best that yung ating interest specially yung mga medyo mababa na ang salary, these things are taken into consideration. What I am promising you is that your interest, welfare is one of the primordial considerations,” he said.
