DATE 2023 to showcase latest trends, innovations in agriculture

The 25th Davao Agritrade Expo 2023 slated on September 28 to 30, 2023 at SM Lanang Premier’s SMX Convention will showcase the latest trends and innovations in the agriculture industry.

Cherrylin Casuga, chairperson of DATE 2023, on Wednesday said that the agriculture sector is currently facing challenges in production, research and development, skills of the farmers, and best practices in producing food.

This year’s DATE aims to address these challenges including food security, climate change, and production improvement.

Casuga said the Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (DCCCII) through DATE 2023 will be bringing all the solutions as well as the technology to help the farmers level up and foster competitiveness.

“We have to be inclusive and open ourselves in collaboration with other countries that are already doing it. That is advancing technology, sustainable agriculture. These are best practices and proven solutions. Like in Thailand, there’s the green economy, in European countries there’s irrigation,” she said during Wednesdays media forum at Habi at Kape at Abreeza Mall.

The three-day DATE will be highlighted with the technical seminars, conferences, and business matching.

“Kay gusto namo na madala sa inyuha, sa atoang mga farmers, agribusiness, and stakeholders na naa gyud solution sa atoang ginaatubang karon na challenges sa agribusiness such as climate change and food security and how to improve production,” she said.

Casuga also said that during the event there will be sharing of success stories on innovations and technology from the participants coming from the neighboring countries.

“Our neighboring districts, cities, and municipalities will also be showcasing their strength, the products in agribusiness. This is the time that DCCCII is bringing innovators and game changers and that is something that we have to look and watch out kasi its an opportunity for us and we have to take advantage of our access to information, innovation, and the market,” she said.

DATE is the biggest and longest-running agri-business expo held annually in Davao City.
