Kangaroo Book Club from South Korea officially turned over P400,000 worth of books and bookshelves for the library-reading center of the Davao City Special National High School in Bangkal, Davao City on Tuesday.
Principal II Janeth Musa expressed her gratitude to the Kangaroo Book Club for choosing Davao City Special National High School as the recipient of the club’s program.
“Thank you for choosing our school to be the recipient of your foundation and giving us this P400,000 worth of books and bookshelves for our library and reading center. This is a dream come true and another milestone. We are very glad because this will surely develop and improve the reading habits and comprehension of our school. Rest assured that we will make it functional,” Musa said in her message during the turnover ceremony.
Juneva Ardepolla, the school’s Filipino coordinator, said having a library is always been a dream for the students and school.
“We know that the library is an important school amenity. The Davao City Special National High School is really blessed to have you. Our students have been dreaming of having a library because it will help our students to learn and develop their skills in reading,” she said.
The ceremony was highlighted with special performances from the Korean visitors and the hearing and visually impaired students.
The turnover ceremony was also timely as the school has just kicked off its celebration of the National Reading Month.
The month of November of every year is the “National Reading Month,” which aims to develop the habit and inculcate a culture of reading in our basic education learners and their communities.
