City gov’t endorses modern Malagos slaughterhouse

An official of the City Economic Enterprise (CEE) is urging livestock raisers and vendors to patronize the Malagos Double A abattoir with Cold Storage and meat-cutting facilities to generate more income.

Davao City Economic Enterprise Officer-in-Charge Maximo Macalipes Jr. said on Thursday that the operation of the Malagos slaughterhouse has increased in 2023 compared to 2022, however, it has not yet hit its target, as the rate percentage of their income for 2022 is only 72 percent.

He said for the slaughterhouse operations CEE generated P32,761,194.05.

“We encourage everyone to patronize sa atong Malagos slaughterhouse para sa hog and cattle lines and chilling facilities. Continue ang atong marketing sa Malagos slaughterhouse for the prospective clients,” Macalipes said.

Macalipes also said the CEE is developing marketing materials and making sales calls for prospective clients to patronize the Malagos slaughterhouse, which offers not only slaughtering services but also chilling and cold storage facilities.

The Malagos slaughterhouse’s fees for large cattle at P300 per head, hogs at P200 per head, and chicken at P5 per head.

“Barato lang sa Malagos slaughter house at the same time dili na sila mag worry kay double A na ang standard nato sa slaughter house which means kung unsa tung gipakatay sa Malagos could be consume or delivered throughout the country. Dili pareho atong una na limited lang in Davao City ang nakatay,” Macalipes said.

Macalipes said CEE is also looking to improve the classification of the Malagos slaughterhouse in the future.

The Malagos Double A abattoir with Cold Storage and meat cutting facilities and the Halal Slaughterhouse was opened on September 16, 2022.

The swine processing facility includes state-of-the-art equipment capable of processing high volumes of swine carcasses and meat, including cold facilities with blast freezers, chilling rooms, and cold storage.
