Triathletes from 21 countries set to compete in Ironman 70.3 Davao

More than 600 participants from 21 countries are expected to compete in the world-class Ironman 70.3 Davao in August this year.

Princess Galura, president and general manager of Ironman 70.3 organizer Sunrise Events Inc., said they have received the confirmed athletes from countries across the world. However, she has not yet obtained the configuration among local and foreign participants.

Galaura said preparations for the event are now in high gear.

“We are making the detailed drawings and plans for execution purposes,” Galura told Edge Davao.

Galura said that the city government of Davao and the local government unit (LGU) of Sta. Cruz are also making their preparations.

“Davao will always be prepared. Syempre need natin mag check ng lahat – power source, water source, security – the usual. Kaya marami pang meetings in the next few weeks. But the foundations are there. We just need to build on it,” Galura said.

The Ironman 70.3 Davao will return on August 11, 2024, with a new course that will feature the newly inaugurated Davao City Bypass Coastal Road and will be staged from Davao City to Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur.

The past three editions of the race in 2019, 2018, and 2023 were held on an out-and-back course from Davao City to Tagum City, Davao del Norte.
