Davao del Norte Governor Edwin Jubahib temporarily left his office at the Provincial Capitol in Tagum City.
In a video message posted on his Facebook page, Jubahib announced that starting April 28 he will continue his service at the Tahanan ng Punong Lalawigan, the official residence to the Governor in Davao del Norte, which is located inside the Provincial Capitol complex.
Jubahib said despite the preventive suspension order imposed by the Office of the President against him, he assured that this will not become an obstacle to the operation of every office in the capitol.
It can be recalled that the governor was suspended by Malacanang through the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) effective April 11, 2024.
The suspension stemmed from OP-DC CASE NO. 22-L-100 or “grave abuse of authority and oppression” filed by Davao del Norte Second District Board Member Orly Amit.
“Sa akong pagpondo sa opisina, daghang mga butang nga dili angayang pagahimuon ang ilang gibuhat sa mga empleyado labi pa sa mga department heads,” Jubahib said.
The governor said this was the reason behind his decision to leave his office at the main capitol building.
Employees of the Provincial Governor’s Office, Provincial Administrator’s Office, and Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office have converged at the Bulwagan ng Karunungan.
The governor said his decision to step down from his office symbolizes his love for those who joined and stood by his side “for truth and justice and to give a chance to the smooth and legal process.”
He thanked the tribal members, government officials and local government units, employees of the provincial capitol mainly department heads, his family and friends.
He also promised stronger management against the challenges when he returns.
