Davao City First District Representative Paolo “Pulong” Duterte described his father, former president Rodrigo Duterte, as a “father who raised us with wisdom and strength.”
Rep. Pulong posted his message on his Facebook account on FPRRD’s recent 79th birthday celebration.
Rep. Pulong, together with his family and other grandchildren of former president, attended the simple birthday celebration at latter’s residence in Doña Luisa Subdivision last week.
“Happy birthday to our father who raised us with wisdom and strength. We will always be inspired by your love and service for our country. Thank you for showing us what family is all about – supporting one another and staying together through it all,” Rep. Pulong said.
Last year, Rep. Pulong defended his father from the critics particularly ACT Teachers Party-list Rep. France Castro, saying public servants should not be “onion-skinned” when criticized.
Castro filed a complaint grave threats for the statements that the former president made over a television program at Sonshine Media Network International (SMNI) where he talked about the confidential fund of his daughter, Vice President Sara, last year.
The case was dismissed due to lack of evidence.
Also last year, Rep. Pulong showed how he stand by his family against Rep. Castro and their other detractors.
“It is imperative upon me to stand by my family and protect my family. I think kahit sino naman, ganun ang gagawin. That’s where I’m coming from. You filed a case, let the court look at the merits. Simple as that. Gaya ng sinabi ko, it is your right. But I heard worse. I just wish na sana yung passion mo to sensationalize this further is the same to your passion to protect the farmers and innocent victims na pinatay at biktima ng mga NPA,” Rep. Pulong said.
