DCPO obtains DNA test results in Predas-Chavez murder case

Davao City Police Office (DCPO) spokesperson Capt. Hazel Tuazon announced on Monday that the results of the DNA test for the murdered couple Jeff Predas and Jennifer Chavez are at hand.

DCPO clarifies that they are still waiting for the official hard copy signed by the head of the Davao City Forensic Unit (DCFU) to be submitted to the Bajada Police Station.

“Naa na ang result sa DNA testing pero nagpaabot lang ta sa hard copy nga ihatag sa DCFU para official ug pirmado sa head sa DCFU na ilang ihatag sa Bajada Police Station to DCPO,” Tuazon said over Davao City Disaster Radio (DCDR).

DNA testing from the blood stains collected from the elevator and the sixth and seventh floors of the condominium building was conducted to help solve the Predas-Chavez murder case.

The two were found dead at a condominium building along J.P. Laurel Avenue in Davao City on April 21, 2024.

In an interview last month with DCPO director Col. Richard Bad-ang, he said during the reenactment, police found bloodstains in room 323, the elevator, and sixth and seventh floors. He said these bloodstains are subject to DNA testing to match if these belonged to Chavez and Predas.

Meanwhile, Tuazon said they are hoping to get additional information from the iPhones of the victims recovered from the crime scene.

Tuazon assured that the investigators were not taking a shortcut in conducting the investigation.

“Ang kani nga kaso dili nato i-short cut para makuha nato just in case naa’y third party nga involve.
