PNP DRAGNET   Cops arrest yields 16 wanted persons

A total of 16 wanted persons were arrested during a joint area security community service and protection operation plan or “Oplan: Kalinaw” in one simultaneous sweep in various areas of Davao City last Friday.

The operation was implemented in more than 20 puroks in different barangays in the poblacion and administrative districts covered by 11 police stations of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO). Covered in the sweep were puroks of  Barangay 29-C under the jurisdiction  of Santa Ana Police Station; Puroks 1 to 5, Rizal Extension, and Barangay 38-D in the area of San Pedro Police  Station; Purok 8, Phase 1 & 2 Pagasa, Barangay Bago Gallera in the area of Talomo Police Station; Km.13 Estores, Panacan in the area of Sasa Police Station; Block 10 San Jose, Carmelite Road, Barangay Buhangin  in the area of  Buhangin Police Station; Purok 8-A, San Jose in Barangay Tibungco under the jurisdiction  of Bunawan Police Station;  Barangay Fatima in the area of Paquibato Police Station; Purok 17, Mamac Compound, Barangay Toril in the area of of Toril Police Station; Purok 5 Mintal Public Market , Tugbok District in the area of Tugbok Police Station; Purok 16 Mc Arthur Highway, Calinan Poblacion in the area of Calinan Police Station; PS11 (Purok Boongon, Barangay Baguio Proper in the area of Baguio Police Station; and Purok 1, Barangay Baganihan, Marilog District in the area of Marilog Police Station.

The police raids resulted to the arrest of wanted persons/fugitives by virtue of warrant of arrests for various criminal cases.

Arrested were Mary Joy Canonigo Traya for the crime of qualified trespass to dwelling;  Samad Tagam Pundirogong for the crime of theft;  Minona Tagam Pundirogong for the crime of theft ;  Boyet Yudolsora Dela Cerna for the crime of unlawful arrest; Patricio Lariosa Dela Cerna for the crime of unlawful arrest ;  Noli Aguiwat Veroy for the crime of unjust vexation and slight physical injuries; Mario Alcontin for the crime of attempted homicide;  Romel Camosa Traya for the crime of Viol. Of P.D. 1602;  Epifania  Caminse for Violation  OF SSS Law;  Jessa K. Danwata whose true name is Aileen Kalanda Budjong for the crime of qualified theft; Vincent Mundas Adlawan alias “Dodong Fliptop” for the crime of murder; Rolly U. Legarto for violation of R.A 9287; Annabelle Cabeza Bajenting for violation of R.A 9287; Mar Casas for the crime of acts of lasciviousness; Jesus Britaña Seva for violation of PD 401; and Baltazar Gonzales Ababon for violation of RA 7610.

According to Chief Supt. Marcelo Morales, Regional Regional Office 11 director, the result of this operation reflects the untiring support of our field commanders.

“We all dream of a crime-free and criminal-free region so that we will do our best to achieve peace, we will continue this effort until we see significant results,” said Morales, adding that the PNP’s commitment is to put all lawless elements behind bars.

Morales also emphasized the importance of collective efforts with the local government units and the general public encouraging their involvement in all PRO 11 programs especially in crime reporting.

“Community involvement definitely complements this endeavor. Yuletide season is fast approaching, we should work together to make sure that this season will be enjoyed by everyone, worry-free,” he said.

The simultaneous operations also resulted in the identity/background checking and profiling of 1,395 residents. Out of these, 1, 225 persons have presented identification cards (IDs), while 170 could not produce their ID’s.

In the other aspects of the Oplan: Kalinaw package, a total of 904 residents availed themselves of free medical check-up and supplemental feeding, while 546 persons received free medicines and vitamins.

Oplan: Kalinaw, is a 4-in-1 Package, which is designed to initiate identity/background checking and profiling of transient residents in  urban poor communities in the city; Manhunt Operations, Arrest of Wanted Persons or fugitives hiding in these communities; Community Outreach and Free medical check-up and giving of medicines and vitamins; and Community Empowerment through Crime Prevention Education in the different areas in Davao City.
