MIDSAYAP, North Cotabato — The 6th Infantry Division (IF) assured that the explosion in Talayan, Maguindanao on Tuesday noon is not related with the ongoing plebiscite for the ratification Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) in North Cotabato.
6th ID spokesperson Maj. Arvin Encinas said that the explosion of improvised explosive device (IED) planted inside a U-Box compartment of a motorcycle in a highway at in Sitio Nes, Barangay Tambunan 1 around 11:45 a.m. of February 5 was not intended to disrupt the plebiscite.
Encinas said the explosion could be considered as isolated since only one person got injured that time.
He said there are no major threats in North Cotabato but they are all on high alert status to prevent any possible attacks from any groups.
Encinas said voting process all polling centers in the in the towns of Aleosan, Carmen, Kabacan, Midsayap, Pigcawayan, Pikit, and Tulunan done normally without major incidents.
Earlier, Police Regional Office – Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PRO-ARMM) reported that a vendor identified as Sera Mangelen, 25, sustained wounds in her left arm after the explosion on Tuesday. The investigation report bared the IED placed in a motorcycle parked beside national highway by two unidentified suspects onboard on two different motorcycles bound to Isulan, Sultan Kudarat.
The suspects allegedly pretend to buy fruits in the area but the suspects fled the area riding only one motorcycle and left the other one with the bomb that exploded later on which caused the vendor sustained injury to her left hand.
They immediately speed off to the direction of Isulan, Sultan Kudarat. Investigators of Maguindanao Police Provincial Office has now conducted deeper probe on the incident.
