Local authorities will be implementing gun ban within the city limits after the Philippine National Police (PNP) National Headquarters approved a request sought by Mayor Sara Z. Duterte.
This was confirmed by Davao City Police Office (DCPO) spokesperson Capt. Rosario Aguilar on Wednesday’s AFP-PNP Press Corps Southern Mindanao briefing at The Royal Mandaya Hotel.
Aguilar said the order was approved by PNP officer-in-charge Lt. Gen. Archie Gamboa dated January 6 and was received by their office on January 7.
As this developed, gun holders are now advised not to bring their firearms within the city.
Aguilar also clarified that those who will just pass by the city should first get an authority to transport from the Regional Civil Security Unit of Police Regional Office (PRO) 11.
She said the approval is in line with the lifting of Martial Law in Mindanao last January 1.
This measure was sought by the City Government of Davao against those who have criminal or terroristic intention in the city.
