The reigning Asian Games champion accomplished the feat by clearing 94 kilograms in snatch, and 115 in clean and jerk, for a total 209 and the second-placed finish in the women’s 55-kilogram category.

Medals are awarded separately in those categories in the world and continental championships, as opposed to a single medal (total) in the Olympics.

The Asian tournament, which opened on April 17 and concludes on April 29, serves as a qualifying event for the Tokyo Olympics.

Diaz, 28, is targeting a fourth Olympics appearance, following stints in Beijing in 2008, London in 2012 and Rio de Janeiro in 2016, where she won silver.

Her most recent accomplishment is winning gold in the Asian Games in Jakarta last year.
