The provincial government of Davao de Oro has postponed the staging of Davao Regional Athletic Association (DAVRAA) meet in the province next month amid the Corona Virus Disease 19 (CoViD-19) scare.
Davao de Oro Governor Jayvee Tyrone L. Uy said the postponement of the annual regional sporting meet is due to the advisory of Department of Health (DOH) refraining the local governments to host events that will gather crowds
He said the event is supposed to be staged on March 15 to 22 but they proposed to the Department of Education and later on approved to move the DAVRAA on April 1 to 7.
“Hopefully, the status of the virus or CoViD-19 will not become worse that time,” he said.
But, he assured that the regional meet will go in his province this year.
He said aside from the postponement of DAVRAA, the activities for the for Araw ng Davao de Oro was also canceled also due to the health scare.
“As much as we want to proceed with the scheduled activities, we cannot risk your health, safety and well being, all these remain as our utmost priority,” he said.
Uy said all activities and celebrations intended for this year’s founding anniversary will be merged instead with the Bulawan Festival 2020.
