With barely a week to go, all systems are running in full cylinders for the 14th Eaglemasters golf tournament in Davao city.

To be hosted by no less than the three renowned golf courses in Davao City, organizers are leaving no stones unturned in their preparation for the biggest golf tournament to hit this part of the country. The tournament runs from September 21-24,2023.

From their humble beginnings at the old Lanang Golf and Country club, tournament chairman Randy Cadiogan reminisce about their starting days over a round of beer and Chicharon bulaklak pulutan at the clubhouse of Lanang golf to their present day friendship that spans more than two decades.

They were then seated one afternoon at the clubhouse of Lanang after a round of golf. The CALAOB (Canal, Lake and Out of Bounds) boys headed by Joe Tisado, the Fairway boys of Tony Dacudao, Sam Strong, Ralph Garcia and the Miner’s group of Randy Cadiogan, Abe Dizon and the rest of the gang. “We noticed that our members are dwindling due to the impending closure of Lanang Golf which was sold already to the SM group. Tony suggested that why not we combine our forces and form one big group and continue playing somewhere else? We initially targeted Palos Verdes as our new home course.” narrates Randy Cadiogan.

” Let’s call ourselves Eaglemasters, not in reference to the bird that made Davao famous but for the Eagle, a term used in golf” Dacudao suggested. Out of commonality and familiarity with each other through years of playing golf in Lanang, the group agreed in unison. Thus born the group The Eaglemasters, in one word as Dacudao emphasize, in late 2007 just months before Lanang’s official closure on July 31,2008.

Today as the group celebrate their sixteen years of friendship, the Eaglemasters led by Cadiogan envisioned an ambitious tournament to be held on all the golf courses of Davao to accommodate the more than 800 expected golfers to converge in Davao City.

Why hold it in September?

“As per our studies, we noticed that golf tournaments nationwide are lean on this month and the weather is favorable in Davao, but most all it’s to honor one of our founding fathers, Joe Tisado who celebrates his birthday on the third week of September” Randy added.

Aside from a 2023 Toyota Wigo as its Grand Prize to be raffled off during the awards night on September 24,2023, over 10 million worth of raffle and a bevy of hole in one prizes offered in all Par 3s in all courses, are at stake in this four-day tournament.

A Mirage Hatchback car for Rancho Palos Verdes, Kia Stonic for South Pacific and a Toyota Vios for Apo awaits the lucky golfer who will hit the Hole in One jackpot.
