PAL Interclub mainstay Karlos Alba carded a 3 over par 75 to emerge as Overall Gross champion while Edge Davao Columnist Chito Malabanan took home the Overall Net title after scoring a net 66 at the Apo Golf and Country Club Monthly Medal tournament on Sunday.
Blessed by four-day good weather, the sun-dried Apo golf fairways was teeming with golfers after a week of slow attendance due to rains that soaked the fabled layout.
More than 150 golfers answered the call for the four-day Monthly medal tournament.
Youthful Fraz Pasquil ruled the Class A with his gross score of 76 over Leo Yap who carded an 87. Leo Fusilero emerged as Net champion for Class A with his 80, a stroke better than runner up Roy Tomenlaco.
Mark Villorente and John Pascual got the plum for Gross and Net for Class B with their 79 gross and net 68 respectively. Chri Babol (84) and Al Batao (72) settled for runner up honors.
In the Class C Division Sam Bumatay (89) held his ground over runner up Dick Arellano (94) to grab the top gross plum. Yong Sugianto (68) got the Net title for Class C over Joshua Barrientos who settled for net 76.
Senior golfers Larry Miculob (89) and Nonie Cocjin (74) emerged as Gross and Net champion respectively in the Seniors while Ed Batacan (91) and Jerry Leonor (93) settled for runner up honors;
For the Ladies Division Blair Uyking (79) got the top gross title while Beth Lindo (72) snatched the net title via countback over Len Lee (72).
Joy Quibol (82) won over Manfred Lawas (85) to top the Guest Gross Division A while Marlon Tabanao (75) took the net title over Jun Barraquias (77).
Guest Division B gross diadem was taken by Michal Lim (87) while Ruby Sato (64) took the net title in their division. Apollo Alga’s (87) and Angelo Antivo (69) settled for the runner up honors.
This monthly tournament falls on the final week of preparation for the upcoming 75th PAL Interclub golf tournament to be hosted by Cagayan de oro and will be played on Pueblo de Oro and Del Monte Golf and Country club from February 22 to March 4,2024. Apo golf will be sending its Men’s regular and Seniors team for the event.
Members and guest golfers were all smiles as they feast on the sumptuous buffet dinner offered by the management of the Apo Golf and country club and shared the set of appliances raffled off during the awarding ceremonies.
