The series of sporting festivities in celebration of the Araw ng Dabaw continues as Rotary Club of East Davao and Rotary Club Davao will jointly hold a golf tournament on March 23,2024 at the Apo Golf and Country Club.
Dubbed as Rotary Golf for a cause, the 18-hole tournament will adopt the Modified Stableford system on two shotgun starts at 6am and 11 am. This was bared by May Divino, president of Rotary Club of Davao and her counterpart from RC East Davao, Engr Darwin Santos on Thursday at the DSA weekly forum at the SM Ecoland.
“We are expecting the strong support of 150 golfers from Davao and nearby cities for this golf for a cause. Part of the proceeds of this tournament will go to our water system project for the IP community in Paquibato district” said May Santos of RC Davao.
Golfers will be classified into five (5) categories namely, Class A (Handicap 0-9), B (Handicap 10-18), C (Hndcp19-27), Ladies Division and the Seniors (60 and above) to accommodate maximum number of golf participants. There will be four winners in each class, Gross and Net Champions and runners up aside from the Overall Gross and Net champions.
“There will be two holes for each of the four (4) Par 3s to increase the possibility of Hole in One. Each hole will have a merchandise/appliances as one price and the other one, a thoroughbred fighting cock. A great motivation for the lucky golfer. If no one will hit the jackpot, the appliances will be raffled off during the awarding fellowship except for the fighting cocks” said Engr Santos.
The registration is pegged at 3,500 pesos that will cover the green fee, packed lunch, buffet dinner, give aways and raffle ticket for the awarding. A mulligan of 500 pesos will be collected that will be used one each for front and back nine.
The awarding fellowship will start after all the golfers have finished their rounds at the Apo Golf and Country Club clubhouse.
