Compostela Valley Province– 3 winners from Compostela Valley during the recent “2019 Gawad Saka Awards” for the regional category which qualify as entries for the Davao Region for the “2019 National Gawad Saka Awards.
On June 17, 2019, Provincial Agriculturist (PAGRO) Chief Minda Agarano together with his Assistant Ronald Sibayan presented the three Regional Winners for the ‘2019 Gawad Saka Award’ during the Employees Monday Convocation Program at the Capitol Lobby, Cabidianan, Nabunturan, Comval.
The winners for the 2019 Gawad Saka were Mr. Alejo Luzano of the municipality of Compostela as the Outstanding Rice Farmer, and the Tandik Multi-Purpose Cooperative of the municipality of Maragusan as the Outstanding Small Farmers Cooperative, while the New Leyte National High School 4-H Club received the Outstanding Young Farmers Organization Award.
The awards were received by Mr. Luzano and the Chairperson of the Tandik Cooperative Mr. Jupiter Comaña and 4H President Ms. Jean Abris and Roel Ellaga.
The presentation of winners during the convocation program were attended by the Assistant Provincial Administrators Mr. Fernando Juab and Mr. Placido Alcomendras Jr. together with the Provincial Government Department Heads Ms. Eva Jean Licayan of Provincial Budget Office (PBO), Ms. Nora Cagas of Provincial Treasures’s Office (PTO), Dr. Antonio Ybiernas Jr. of Provincial Health Office (PHO), Ms. Arceli Timogtimog of Provincial General Services Office (PGSO), Mr. Eugene Alaba of Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO), Ms. Lara Zaphire Kristy N. Bermejo of the Provincial Human Resource Development Management Office (PHRMDO), and Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) Secretary Ms. Thelma Yumang and others.
On the other hand, Governor Jayvee Tyron L. Uy together with the PAGRO officials also received the “2018 National Rice Achievers Award” from the office of the President through the Department of Agriculture (DA) for the Rice Sufficiency Program of the province.
The awarding ceremony was held on May 30, 2019 at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City, Metro Manila.
The Governor received a certificate, plaque and a 4 million peso as cash prize during the awarding ceremony at the Malacanang Palace.(Rey Antibo, ID Comval)
