More than 70 LGU employees and volunteers from different barangays participate in the voluntary mobile blood donation program conducted by the City Health Office (CHO) and Davao Regional Medical Center (DRMC) today at the City Hall lobby.
“This is the first time that I have donated my blood and I feel really good knowing that this will help someone,” said Edmundo Aleonar, 42, of the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO).
“Donating blood improves emotional and physical health. It may lower the risk of heart disease and certain cancers, help liver stay healthy, reduce stress, improve emotional well-being, provide a sense of belonging and many more,” said City Blood Program Coordinator Ma. Mildred Suello, RMT III.
Suello added that donors and their direct dependents can avail discounted blood processing fees from DRMC in whenever they will need blood.
The CHO headed by Dr. Algae Rose Sumaoang – Hechanova regularly conducts this activity for LGU employees every June and December.
