The City Planning Development Office Housing Division of the City Government of Davao is looking forward to finish the building of 21 five-story tenement-type buildings, Phase 2 of their Los Amigos relocation project by March 2018.
Speaking during the ISpeak Conference on Thursday, CPDO-Housing Division Head Roy Ryan Rigor, said that the housing project in cooperation with San Miguel Foundation and Pilipinong May Puso Foundation will take place in the remaining seven hectares of the total 20-hectare relocation site in Los Amigos.
According to Rigor, the project will be the first low-cost housing that is going to be a medium rise tenement type building.
“The 20 buildings will have 840 units with 42 square meters each. Bigger than the regular housing with only 25-30 square meters,” said Rigor.
The Housing Division of the CPDO has conducted census tagging in order to determine those who would qualify to avail themselves of the housing project. He also added that qualified applicants are those who are citizens of the Republic of the Philippines, with no land holdings under his/her name and must belong below poverty threshold with an income of P 8,300 monthly.
The selection of occupants will be done by public raffling.
Furthermore, Rigor revealed that the construction cost will not be recovered from the residents because San Miguel will give it to them as donation.
The occupants will only have to pay for the land component to the city government.
“We are still in the process of determining the recoverable cost of the land. We are having a hard time calculating it because it’s the first time we would calculate cost for medium-rise buildings.”
At present, phase 1 of the relocation project, with 13-hectare land area, already houses 700-800 settlers.
