Another Davao City investment and tourism roadshow is in the works, this time in South Korea.
Lemuel Ortonio, Davao City Investment and Promotion Center (DCIPC) chief, revealed on Wednesday’s Habi at Kape media forum at the Abreeza Mall, that the city government is rolling out another roadshow to further promote the investment and tourism opportunities of the city to the South Korea capital of Seoul.
However, Ortonio said that the international tour, tentatively slated this May, will be shortened to three days as compared to the previous road shows in Japan, Malaysia and Singapore, which all lasted one week.
“We shortened the roadshow, because we wanted to focus in one city, which is Seoul,” he said.
Ortonio said that the main focus of the investment tour will be agriculture and the information and communications technology (ICT) industry.
He said that delegation in the investment tour will include representatives of the City Administrator’s Office, City Tourism Operation Office, Davao City council committees of trade and industry, and tourism. Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio has not yet confirmed if she will be joining the delegates but representatives of private organizations and industry associations will be invited.
The DCIPC head said that they are still coordinating with the Philippine Embassy in South Korea, to fix the business meetings with the different investors. Ortonio said that the previous roadshows had been successful, and they planning to replicate them in South Korea and other possible are planning destinations.
“The previous ones created awareness, especially in Japan. We received inquiries from Malaysia and Singapore, a week after the roadshow (scheduled back in September last year),” he said.
He also said that the roadshows further strengthened the connection of the DCIPC with the local business sector in the city.
