With its vision to give the best service to its clientele, Department of Education (DepEd) Compostela Valley is now ISO 9001:2015 certified – making it the first provincial division in DepEd Region XI to be accredited with international standards.
“We finally achieved our goal — to be ISO 9001:2015 certified particularly in our quality management system that we really implemented,” DepEd Compostela Valley OIC Schools Division Superintendent Reynante A. Solitario said during the ISO audit last July 5, 2019 at the DepEd ComVal Division Office.
“It’s really a blessing for us na na-achieve namo ni ug madevelop ang system to assure our clients satisfaction. The ease in doing business, as anchored in our Citizen’s Charter, para yung mga client namin na magttransact dito sa opisina, makikita nila kung gaano ba kabilis ang pag-aksyon namin,”
Solitario added.
ISO 9001:2015 is an international standard that specifies requirements for quality management system such as context of the organization, leadership, planning, support, operation, performance evaluation, and improvement. The certification is done to enhance and standardize processes and further strengthen internal culture.
“We are the second to Davao City to be certified. The first province in Mindanao. So, oo, proud kaau mi,”
Solitario shared.
An ISO certification, according to Solitario, comes with big responsibilities. “Even if certified na ang agency, they can still take it back. Surveillance gihapon sila,” he said.
The ISO certifying body is TUV SUD, a leading international experts and trusted partner of choice for safety, security and sustainability solutions. Present to conduct the audit were Xavier Lance Dy and Nestor Frayco.
Based on the standards required to be met, only organizations that demonstrate keen observance and ability in providing products and services to meet customer satisfaction after a rigorous audit can be given this highly pursued certification.
“I would like to congratulate the DepEd Division of Compostela Valley under the leadership of Dr. Reynante
Solitario. This is a milestone for the institution that will definitely improve the delivery of services especially in attaining quality education here in Compostela Valley,” Gov. Jayvee Tyrone Uy told reporters after the certification was issued.
An ISO Certification lasts for three years. And within those years, the agency need to sustain and maintain the same level of service provided and accuracy in terms of customer/clientele satisfaction. “Ginawa na nila sa ibang agencies kay wala nila na-sustain. Kasi three years ang certification. After three years, another certification naman. If hindi compliant, babawiin nila,” Solitario added.
The journey began as a foundation of the division’s dream of providing quality, accessible, relevant and liberating education for all. “Dili sya one time, I did it gradually para dili makuratan ang tanan. Dahan-dahan nako gi-introduce ang change,” Solitario shared.
According to Gov. Uy, the provincial government has already started the preparation for ISO certification with the Office of the Panlalawigan together with the Office of the Vice Mayor. “We intend to follow the footsteps of the Regional Department by next year,” he added.
Further, Uy said that under his priority for the next three years, [we] will improve our workforce and processes in the Capitol through Total Quality Management.
“The processes within the division office, but in a wider scale. There are a lot of programs na atong partner is ang DEPED — Bayanihan para sa Karunungan, Kusina ng Kalinga program and the Alternative Learning System (ALS) especially sa mga lag-yo na mga barangay. Those programs, together with DepEd, has been implemented during my term,” Uy said.
