Maya on the Block: Christmas bliss at Park Inn by Radisson Davao

You know that Christmas is just around the corner when you see restaurants, hotels, resorts, and malls deck their halls and roll out their best holiday deals.

How lovely.

Uniquely, Christmas is celebrated in the Philippines beginning as early as September when radio start playing Christmas carols. But it won’t be until November when you really begin the feel that Christmas feeling when colorful lights start to shine bright everywhere.

One of the well-loved hotels in Davao City, Park Inn by Radisson Davao welcomed the most wonderful time of the year with a Christmas tree lighting ceremony held on November 9, 2023.

The annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony, which is the hotel’s occasion to usher in the festive season, was led by Park Inn By Radisson Davao general manager Sven Toune, Department of Tourism 11 director Tanya Rabat-Tan, and Dr. Maria Margaret Misa Antonio, chairwoman of the Board of Trustees for the Davao School for the Blind, along with the hotel’s department heads.

Gleeful smiles and loads of oohs and aahs were heard as the guests watched the Christmas tree vibrantly lit up.

The spectacular 8-foot White Christmas tree decked out with festive decorations of oversized white Christmas balls accentuated with gold and silver accents and classily positioned in-between lamp posts, plus the charming bench in front for the picture-perfect spot – captures the hotel’s depiction of a White Christmas.

The guests who came dressed in white made the occasion heavenly.

“This year, we are celebrating the theme of a “White Christmas” with our tagline, “Cherish the Bliss of Christmas.” We invite our guests and visitors to immerse themselves in a White Christmas – the Park Inn Davao way, filled with wonder and enchantment. We also look forward to hearing stories of your memorable and feel-good moments to be created in the walls of this hotel,” said General Manager Sven Toune.

The ceremony was enlivened with an enchanting performance by En Avant Dance and Arts Centre as they rendered Sugarplum Fairy Variation from The Nutcracker – Tchaikovsky, accompanied by the euphonious melodies of the strings and quartets from Dolce Chordarum Strings.

The merry affair was highlighted with a feast at Vanda, the hotel’s all-day dining restaurant, where En Avant Dance and Arts Centre and Dolce Chordarum Strings serenaded guests with a series of captivating performances during the dinner.

To give thanks and care back to the local community, Park Inn by Radisson Davao also launched the “Cookie for a Cause,” wherein a portion of the proceeds will be contributed to support the Davao School for the Blind.

The Davao School for the Blind is a residential, non-sectarian institution located in Bago Aplaya, Talomo, Davao City. The school caters kindergarten to sixth grade and adheres to the school motto “That Hands May Learn to See,” that the visually impaired while handicapped by failed eyesight deserve a human and just treatment with dignity and must be allowed to rise above their unwanted deficiency and contribute a share to the society he/she belongs.

The cookies are available from November 9, 2023 until January 6, 2024 at the hotel’s Christmas store.

This Holiday Season, Park Inn by Radisson Davao welcomes guests and visitors to share in the delight of the holidays and embrace the warmth and joy of the Yuletide: Cherish the Bliss of Christmas and be a part of the community’s holiday spirit.
