Hermie Macaranas duplicated his previous top 15 placing in the International Canoe Federation World Under 23 Championships in Pitesti, Romania.
The two-time SEA Games bronze medalist Macaranas placed 6th among nine participants in Final-B of the Men’s 200 meters.
Macaranas, the lone Asian in the finals, clocked 43.37 seconds, 1.2 seconds behind winner Stephen Frodhsam of Canada. He bested three other rivals Loic Leonard of France, danilo Auricchio of Italy and Charles Ellis of Australia.
Some 30 paddlers mostly Europeans competed in three Heats that determined the semifinalists and eventually the finalists for A and B.
This marked the second straight year that Macaranas made it to top 15 of the World Championships .
