Geeks on a Beach event opens in Puerto Princesa

The 5th year of Geeks on a Beach will be held at Ballroom, Princesa Garden Hotel, Puerto Princesa, Palawan on August 24- 25, 2017. This event is an annual international conference for tech start-up and is organized by TechTalk.ph in partnership with Department of Information and Communications Technology.

The GOAB is expecting 600 participants this year and has something new to offer to its participants and that is the focus of the event will be more on the corporate and start-up engagement.

“So it’s more on digital transformation for traditional businesses, corporations and even small, medium enterprises to engage with tech start-up community.“ said Mary Rose Rontal Chief Program Officer of TechTalk.ph during a forum at Wednesday’s at Habi at Kape on July 12.

The topics for this year’s GOAB is there are tracks for tech-start up, tracks for challenging problems in the country such as agri-tech and environmental-tech and health-tech. Artificial intelligence and virtual reality will also be included in the discussion on the said event. Jojo Flores from Launch Garage is expected to come because he is one of the key speakers of the said event. The tech start-up community in Manila and Cebu has grown tremendously and there a huge number of events however, the community here in Davao needs a little more push. “I know that there are a lot of tech IT people, talents, aspiring entrepreneurs who are around but there’s no platform pa or venue for them to come together and meet with other tech enthusiast or find their co-founder or to get an opportunity to build a new solution.” Rontal said. She also announced that the 1st Tech talk Davao meet-up with MINDA will on August 7. There will be a guest speaker coming from Queensland University to talk about innovation and entrepreneurship.

The partnership with MINDA will enable Tech Talk to conduct Tech start-up events here in Mindanao. It’ll bring more innovation, digital transformation and business ideas that would help Mindanao to cope up with the technological changes. “Let’s mix agri-business plus innovation of technology.” She added. Everyone is welcome to join Techtalk.ph meet up because it is a platform, whether you’re aspiring entrepreneur, a programmer, a designer or computer science graduate. It will depend on the participant’s goal. The objective of having this kind of event is to put up innovation hubs in Davao and Palawan here in the Philippines.
