The regional office of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Davao proclaimed on Tuesday, May 14, the elected congressmen and councilors of the 1st and 2nd district of Davao City.
However, there were three polling centers including the Bolton Elementary School, Davao City National High School, and Cesareo Villa-Abrille Elementary School have not yet transmitted their election returns as of this writing. Thus, the proclamation of winners for the 1st district candidates was delayed.
Comelec Davao chairman lawyer Krisna Samantha Caballero spearheaded the proclamation of elected candidates.
Vicente Garcia was proclaimed winner in the second district after he garnered a total of 174,389 votes. He held the same post until 2010 and will be on his second tour of duty.
Re-electionist councilor Danilo Dayanghirang led the 2nd district legislative race and was proclaimed winner with 123,621 votes, followed by Diosdado Mahipus Jr. with 121,201, Louie Bonguyan with 120,049, Ralph Abellera with 106,833, Javi Campos with 106,042, Dante Apostol with 105,219, Che-Che Justol with 105,110 and Jonard Dayap with 95,776.
Isidro Ungab, on the other hand, was proclaimed as the 3rd district congressman of Davao City after receiving 160,732 votes.
Alberto Ungab (144,120), Nonoy Al-ag (123,300), Dra. Joselle Villafuerte (116,378), Conde Baluran (114,603), Myrna Dalodo-Ortiz (113,798), Petite Principe (112,911), Cocoy Zozobrado (104,996) and Sweet Advincula (100,526) occupied the eight councilor seats in the 3rd district.
Meanwhile, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio had a landslide lead in the mayoral race with 579,551 against Jun Marcellones’ 4,255 as of yesterday’s partial unofficial results.
Unopposed presidential son Sebastian “Baste” Duterte got 557,277 votes for the vice mayor post.
His older brother Paolo “Pulong” Duterte also had a comfortable lead with 196,540 votes against Susan Uyanguren and Rex Labis, who garnered 5,106 and 2,121 votes, respectively.
Ma. Belen “Mabel” Sunga-Acosta also led the race in the 1st district councilor elections with 170,341.
Completing the possible “Magic 8” in the district are Melchor “Jay” Quitain (161,225), Edgar “Kap” Ibuyan (139,795), Bonifacio Militar (123,587), Nilo Abellera (122,355), Pilar Braga (121,495), Pamela Librado (118,107), and Jessica Bonguyan (114,996).
